Sophia asked to borrow my computer this morning so she could write something for work.
When I asked her where she works, she said, "I have two jobs."
Me: "Really? Where?"
Sophia: "At a Chinese restaurant.... and I'm a mailman."

The first step is admitting your addiction ....
My name is Marisa, and I'm addicted to Space Bags.
I absolutely love them.
George teases me because the gift I was most excited about Christmas morning was two boxes of Space Bags.
I heard about them a few years ago while watching "Regis and Kelly." Kelly was talking about how great they were when packing for trips.
So when I started trying to declutter my life this fall, I picked up a few. And fell in love!
They are amazing. I can compress all of my guest bedding -- comforter, blanket, sheet set, pillowcases, pillow -- into a package less than 1-inch thick! And I've used them to decrease the amount of space in my basement devoted to children's clothes.
My plan is to use the ones I got for Christmas to tackle my bedroom closet. When I'm done, I think -- no, I know -- I'll be able to walk inside it!
I've admitted my addiction, but that's as far as this will go. I will not give up my Space Bags!

Dr. Sophia?
George and I are starting to think Sophia may be a doctor someday.
She loves her doctor kit. She likes to pretend Gianna is a patient and she is the doctor.
Recently I overheard, "Gianna, it hurts to have a baby. It hurt a lot when I had Big Monkey, but it will be OK." Then she pretended to deliver baby Dora.
And this week, she's repeatedly asked to watch babies on TV. (Don't worry, not actual birth videos -- we don't have any of those, but "Friends" episodes where babies are born.)
I guess I should start putting more money into her 529 plan to pay for medical school.

What a difference a year makes
The other day I was in a mad cleaning frenzy -- must have been the change in the calendar -- and I found three unnamed DVDs in the TV cabinet.
To find out what they were, George put the first in the DVD player and my little ladies appeared on the screen.
It was a copy of a video we made last January for George's mother's birthday.
It was unreal to watch Gianna crawling around. Now she's running, jumping, climbing, talking ...
And to listen to Sophia. Her little voice has changed so much. Her pronunciation has improved a lot in one year. And she's gotten so big! How did that happen?
With all the day-to-day stuff, I often forget how quickly my little girls are growing and changing.
I think this year I'll resolve to appreciate the everyday moments we share.

How 'bout them apples
Over Columbus Day weekend, we went apple picking with my mom.
We went to a cute farm where they had apple trees as far as the eye could see, pumpkins, turkeys, goats and hay bales for the kids to climb.
We were given what Sophia and I like to call Johnny Appleseed bags to fill with apples. I also grabbed a cart in case the apples got too heavy. And I'm glad I did -- we picked 110 pounds of apples! Yes, I said 110 pounds of apples! We were having so much fun (and had never picked apples before) that we didn't realize just how many we had picked until we placed them on the scale.
So far, we've made six apple pies, an apple tartan, two apple crisps, applesauce and apple muffins. And we still have a lot of apples left. Good thing they last a while.

Gianna's 16 months
Gianna loves playing peek-a-boo. Here she's playing while keeping one eye on her big sister.
My baby's 16-month photo with her little lamb.Gianna is 16 months old.
How is that possible? It seems like just yesterday she came home from the hospital.
She is such an amazing little girl.
She loves playing peek-a-boo, listening to music, dancing, playing with her sister, kissing her dog sister, giving high-fives and emptying bookshelves, drawers and toy bins.
Gosh, I love my little lady.
Grape Fest 2009
Daddy and Gianna. The rain didn't damper Gianna's spirits. I can't say the same about George.
Sophia came prepared.
Linda and my dad, aka Papa. It was Linda's first Grape Fest.Another rainy Grape Festival. I think it's rained eight out of 10 years, but that doesn't stop us from going. And it lessens the crowds!
These photos were taken before we hit the street. I wanted to capture us, but I didn't want to carry my camera around in the rain all day. Unfortunately that means I didn't get any shots of us in our stylish, matching and free Time-Warner ponchos.
The rain let up after a while and we were able to enjoy the festival. Lots of jewelry vendors for Linda, candied almonds for Papa, sweet potato fries for Gianna and grape ice cream for Sophia.
